Sabbatical

The past few months have been just that for me- a sabbatical. And to be honest, I am not quite ready to be back at it yet.  There's a lot going on in our little lives and well, none that is ready to be shared, which means the blog is and will be a little bare.  To my few readers who continue to stop by the page, you're wonderful! I will let you know when I am back at it!

Our Little Graduate and her Bad Hair Day

During tax season, Zoey and I went to puppy school one a week for 6 weeks.  She has learned so much!  She's got the basics down like sit, stay, lay down, high five, and shake. At one point during the classes, our trainer,  realized that Zoey was so smart that she had realized if she did something bad, I would tell her what she needed to do to make it right, she would do it, and then she would get a treat. What a funny dog! She had learned the whole process.  She brings a lot of joy to our lives!  Check out her graduation picture :)

Since we are in the topic of Zoey, and since I already bragged about how awesome she is, I better just come clean about her tragedy of a hair cut. I fell out laughing when I picked her up from the groomer-- apparently, a new dog owner should do a little more research before dropping off her puppy for a hair cut. Mistake made. Lesson learned.  When I brought her home, I think Tyler's exact words were..."What did you do to my dog! She looks like a deer"  Ha!  If you think we are over exaggerating... see for yourself...

Tyler says even poor Zoey was embarrassed of the hair cut I requested for her, but I can post these pitiful pictures because she did return to her normal cute self within a few days :)

Daniel Turns 2!

I am so lucky to have two of my nephews live so close.  I wish the rest of my nieces and nephews lived just as close!  My sister, Amy, and I have had a blast over the last few years when her boy's birthdays come around and we typically get together to make their birthday cakes.  It has really become a special tradition for me to be included on.  This year, things were so busy, that the cake making snuck up on us!  So Amy and I divided and conquered!  They were taking a family camping trip with a bunch of friends and planned to celebrate Daniel's 2nd birthday with everyone at the camp.  So of course, Daniel needed a camping cake!  This was my first go around making sugar pieces, but I think it turned out pretty cute. In my hurriedness, I only snapped a few pictures with my phone.  But here they are...

It's been too long!

I can hardly believe it has been this long since I have made a blog post.  I haven't just been on a hiatus for no reason, I promise!  But things have been wild around here :)

Right after tax season and Easter season ended, (I know its strange, but, yes, Easter is indeed my busy season), Most of our free time was caught up in preparing for the Cystic Fibrosis 5K.  The event was a blast and I cannot say enough thanks yous to all of the people who made donations, volunteered, and participated in this years event.  For all of you who doubted Tyler's running skills, I must give him a shout out-- he finished!  And he even looked good while doing it!  I am also so excited to announce that we blew our fundraising goal of $3,000 out of the water and this has everything to do with YOU!  Tyler and I feel so blessed by everyone who gave so willingly and generously.  I can't tell you final numbers yet, because the money just keeps rolling in.  We are thrilled to be a part of curing this disease and we cannot wait for the day when Cystic Fibrosis is a thing read about in history books.  We are forever grateful to everyone who took this cause on as their own; words will never truly describe our thankfulness!

Check out a few pictures...okay, or maybe a bunch of pictures, from the run...

My sweetie -- SO proud of this guy!

Are you ready to run?

We are getting really excited about Great Strides 2012!

I mean, check Tyler out....  He is already in perfect physical condition!
(Although I never should have showed him this picture, because he is now convinced that a mustache will help him run faster!)

We have already had so many friends and family tell us they are going to participate by either running or walking. YAY!  But here is every one's chance to actually sign up!  All you have to do is head on over to our Great Strides website....Click here!  There are a few more instructions on that page, but basically walkers will use that website to sign up and runners will sign up there and then also need to go to this site to pay their registration fee. If you have any questions, please let me know! I can definitely help you get signed up!

While we can't promise you that the exercise will be super fun, we can promise the company will be! For those of your who have already joined us in this journey or who have given to the cause, I honestly, do not know how to say thank you.  My heart is full and I am beyond blessed by your efforts to give my husband the best life he could dream of, because by doing that your making my dreams come true too!

We love birthdays around here!

My sweet friends Jessica and Kelley had birthdays pretty close together and since Tyler and I love to celebrate birthdays, we just had to have a little get together!  We consider ourselves overwhelmingly blessed to be able to share life with the couples who joined us to celebrate.  I don't know what I would do without them :)

Tyler was the camera man and he thinks it is much more entertaining to take as many pictures as he can in a minute and forget about all that posing business. Not only does it leave you almost blind from the flash, but most often all the pictures catch everyone with an unexpected look or a ridiculous laugh.  But we were having a lot of fun- so I guess these turned out pretty okay!

Oh! And since these girls are so classy, I had to make them a classy cake!  It was a lot of fun to try something new with the cake batter.  It turned out zebra and was super cute!
